We drove the car about 20 km to the nearest train station and took the train into Brisbane for the day. Driving all the way into the city was out of the question because of the cost of parking - typically $30 per hour (really!). They told us that the only people who commute into Brisbane by car are those whose employers either provide parking or reimburse the cost. In any event, it was convenient for our purpose because we got off at the South Bank station, right into a lovely park district with the museum, the art museum, the performing arts center, and plenty of restaurants. Here is the big Ferris wheel in the park:
A very pretty floral arch in the park:
This arresting sculpture was in the entry lobby of the art museum.
